Melanie Ann is a Canadian-born writer living in Scotland. She writes honest, darkly funny, observational stories about motherhood.

Her work blends humour, honesty, and the moments that connect mothers everywhere.

Her debut book, 100 Days of Darkness, explores the reality of early motherhood — the exhaustion, the absurdity, and the unhinged solidarity that forms along the way.

She writes the blog Anecdotes by Melanie Ann, where she shares essays and stories from the trenches of early motherhood.

She is also the founder of the Nipple Network, an entirely unofficial support group for mothers surviving the first hundred days.

A little about me

Mother of two with a dog and a judgy cat.

Working full-time, and apparently writing books now.

I like to think I’m fairly chill, but given all of the above, I’m probably a little neurotic.

Most of my writing happens late at night once the house is finally quiet — which means I’m still technically sleep-deprived, 8 years on.

Three people, two children and one adult, walk along a sandy beach near a small stream flowing into the ocean on a cloudy day.

Melanie is available for speaking engagements throughout the UK.
